Salinas is proud of his native sun so an inclusive museum has been made in honor of John Steinbeck,although in the past people were not kind o him and his books.

That year 66 authors including Lawrence Darrell and Robert Graves were candidates to win Nobel prize in literature,and finally John Steinbeck of Salinas was announced as winner ,as "the master of modern American literature...for his realistic as well as imaginative writings,distinguished by a sympathetic humor and a keen social perception"
